byndblueshirts: @stevezipay I believe the deal between MSG/AEG in HFD was originally 4yrs+2yr option. I *think* both sides have annual escape clause as well

byndblueshirts: @stevezipay Also, there are rumors of the Sens pulling out of Binghamton at the end of the season, giving NYR another nearby option.

The original deal was 4 years with 2 options. This is currently the 3rd season of those 4 years. As far as I know, AEG is the only one with an escape clause prior to the 4 guaranteed years and that can ONLY be triggered if AEG has a NHL team coming to town, which we know will never happen.

Maybe the Kings will pull their ECHL team out of Ontario and the Rangers can move their ECHL team into town

If I get accepted to SUNY Binghamton (unlikely) and they move the Pack to Bingy, that may push me to go there, as they will offset the overall nothingness of the town lol

The BSens can barely draw. To have the B-Rags back would be nice, but Hartford is MUCH closer to MSG than Binghamton.

Binghamton is a bitch and a half to get to from the metro area compared to Hartford

Found an article online claiming that the Pack and Rangers are in the last year of their affiliation contract:

Quote:
AHL Commissioner Dave Andrews said five or six affiliation contracts were set to expire at the end of the season.

Two of the affiliations whose contracts expire are the New York Rangers (Hartford WolfPack) and the New York Islanders (Bridgeport Sound Tigers), which seem like a natural fit for Albany. The Rangers and Hartford are involved in tense negotiations involving the Hartford Civic Center. The Sound Tigers rate 19th in attendance in the AHL (3,915), which is approximately 500 more fans per game than the River Rats draw for a home date. Sources said the New Jersey Devils, which is located in Lowell, Mass., and the Buffalo Sabres affiliate, located in Portland, Maine, could also end up in Albany because the AHL wants to have a team in the Capital District.
There's a similar story on Bleacher Report suggesting the Pack might move to Albany.

Mods, worthy of adding "Wolf Pack Moving?" to the title?
