Ouch!

Last night's episode of TNA iMPACT scored an 0.98 cable rating, rounded up to a 1.0. The show drew 1.4 million viewers and was down 12.0 percent in ratings and 6.1 percent in TV viewership compared to this past Thursday's iMPACT.

I bet a lot of people didn't realize it was on.

A 1.0 on a Monday night like this isn't actually that poor of a number. The real issue here is that the WWE has created a very loyal fanbase who feel as though they're deserting on the WWE if they watch TNA, because their loyalties are to a brand, and not to professional wrestling.

TNA is in quite a fight here to not only try taking some of those fans, but also to resurrect a lot of the older fans who stopped watching. It's working, but it's working slowly. Patience is a virtue here.

A lot of this sale will be on the fans themselves – fans like me who help sell the show to wrestling fans who used to watch but stopped for one reason or another.

That’s enough of that though. Right now, I want to address something that seems to be a recurring subject on this site as well as my Twitter account: my voice. Many people seem to be under the impression that I am somehow putting my accent on for the sake of the show. Now I realize that to some this may be difficult to grasp, but please bear with me and I will make this as simple as I can…

I come from England and that causes my voice to sound different to yours. Sometimes, I may even say words that you are not used to, like ’mate’ or ‘bloke‘. It’s called a regional dialect and it really is nothing for anyone to be wary of. If you ever take a trip outside of your own bedroom, you may discover that there is a whole world of people out there who ‘talk funny’. I dread to think what will happen if you encounter people speaking foreign languages. Your world may literally implode.

A couple of people have even gone as far as to suggest that they have difficulty understanding me when I talk. One American NXT viewer informed me that “It’s like you Brits have your own language out there!” Well, she was right. We call it English. The Queen’s English to you. If you can’t understand me, then maybe you need to get yourself a real education and not one of those diplomas that you have to send off for online.

In some ways I do understand the problem though. America is a very insular country. This isn’t an anti-American blog. I choose to live and work in the USA and for the most part, I enjoy it. The country isn’t perfect, but where is? However, the thing that has annoyed me most about the subject of my voice is that several English people have questioned the legitimacy of my accent as well. Apparently, I don’t sound like Liam Gallagher and, therefore, I must not be from the north of England. Well here is the short and long of it: I was born in Preston. I have lived in a number of other regions across the British Isles during my life, including Liverpool, Cardiff, London and North Wales. I even spent a wretched year living on the Isle of Mann. This has resulted in me acquiring a unique blend of accents that make me sound, at the very least, slightly different to anybody else you will have ever met. Come on, it isn’t rocket science.

Unfortunately, this issue has just illustrated to me that even a once proud nation like England has its own fair share of mental dwarves. It’s no wonder we lost the empire, Admiral Nelson would be spinning in his tomb if he could see what some segments of British society have regressed to.

Hopefully that puts a stop to this unnecessary linguistic speculation. I was in a bad mood when I started writing this and now it’s got even worse. Thanks to those who have sent worthwhile questions to me, I do my best to answer as many as I can.

Just figured i'd post the 3rd match of the Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat series of matches from 1989.

This match would right away lead to another great feud, Ric Flair vs Terry Funk, as Funk attacks Flair after just winning the NWA World Title for the 6th time.

The first few videos are some of the buildup leading into their final match of 1989 at the Wrestle War '89 PPV.

1st video: Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat confrontation just 9 days away from their match from Wrestle War '89: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nykN9wafk9k

2nd video: Ric Flair/Ricky Steamboat confrontation #2 later in the same show: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TCwwra6uH2A

Next video is a video package/hype video for their match at Wrestle War '89. It's pretty awesome, and did a great job building the match up at the time. The music is Europe's "Final countdown": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czsIKi0wFTk

Also, if you see an ad in chinese, the video will start automatically after it, or something asking you to install something, just click cancel 3 times

I just wanted to be able to get the whole match linked up. As I searched thru Google video for this match so it's complete, and not broken up into different parts.

And finally one of the greatest matches of all time: http://v.youku.com/v_show/id_XOTUxMzM5OTI=.html

Take a look at Funk attack Ric Flair after the match and piledrive him on a wooden table on his head, which was wild, big stuff at the time, which was hardly done before.

I'll be posting the Terry Funk feud too down the line too.

Enjoy!!!

This is my problem with TNA, no FARGing advertising. This image just went up today on their website. Just today. Meanwhile, how long has WWE been pumping the "Wrestlemania Rewind/Steve Austin guest host/McMahon-Hart contract signing"? Hardy-Styles is a dream match that goes back to the FSN Friday afternoon days, and should have been pimped to high heaven since at least Tuesday.

Who cares if Austin is hosting RAW? The product is still staler than month-old bread left out in a summer heat.

I'll deal with TNA's lack of advertising any day over watching Cena v. Batista XXIV and HHH v. Orton XVIII.

It's the same shit over and over and over and over and over and over.... and over.

The WrestleMania card looks so god damn boring. Same tired-ass lame match-ups that they've been "hyping" for damn near months while the wrestling world has continued to yawn at it.
